How to Level
Leveling up increases your life points and unlocks more of what Torn has to offer. This guide covers the fastest ways to gain XP and what to do when you hit the level up prompt.
Fastest Way to Gain XP
The fastest way to level is by attacking another player and choosing Leave. Always choose Leave if possible — it gives you 100% XP gain.
How to Find Targets
In the beginning it can be tough to find targets you can consistently beat. A Torn player called Baldr has put together a list of dead accounts that are great for grinding XP.
Go to Baldr's target list

Other Ways to Gain XP
Attacking isn't your only source of XP. You can also gain experience through:
- ▸Committing crimes
- ▸Training in the gym
- ▸Working at a job
Level Up vs Hold
When you gain enough XP, you'll receive a prompt asking whether to Level Up or Hold.
Level Up ✓ Recommended
Advances your level and grants more life points, giving you a stronger foundation for attacks and survival.
Hold
Keeps your level the same while you continue accumulating XP. You do not gain the life points your true level would give you.
Hold is fine after level 15, but before then you are disadvantaging yourself by not having the maximum life points available for your true level. Always choose Level Up until you hit 15.
